Bristol Blenheim Mark I - Murph's Models
I don't usually document when I do a build (plausible deniability in case things go wrong), but I figured I do this one to show the behind the scenes.
Starting off. I'll figure out the scale after I get the wings on: 9 pages. My lovely assistant decided they looked like flight risks, so she stepped in to prevent the pages from escaping. I'm offering a choice between detailed Bristol Mercury engines, or simplified engines. I'll try and do 1 of each. |

Terrific choice for a model, in my opinion. You can consider me committed for one sale of the forthcoming Blenheim Bundle.
The one you have under development (if it is the same as the image at the top of the page), is in 1940 Fighter Command night fighter livery, specifically, YP-Q (Serial L6739), of 23 Squadron, as it appeared when flying out of RAF Wittering in February 1940. As you know, it's the Flying Legends Blenheim I (civil registration G-BPIV) that is currently in flyable condition. https://www.flyinglegends.com/aircra...im-g-bpiv.html I'd love to see one in 1940 Fighter Command day fighter livery as well. As Péricles points out, this aircraft flew for many countries in many color schemes. Don Photo caption: "Outside its hangar on windswept Wittering a Blenheim If of No. 23 Squadron runs up its Mercury engines in early 1940. Note the 4-Browning gun tray under the fuselage. Code letters have now changed to 'YP.'" [They had previously been "MS."] Source: John Rawlings, Fighter Squadrons of the RAF and their Aircraft, London: MacDonald and Janes, revised edition 1976,p. 61. Working on it, Murph. Give me a day or so and I will send images via email.

Murph - I am currently decisively engaged with Trick-or-Treaters but later this evening will send color three-views and other supporting info for Fighter Command No. 25 Squadron Blenheim If ZK-I (L1233) as it appeared when assigned to RAF North Weald in February 1940. Sand and spinach upper, Night (matt black) lower surfaces except White starboard wing and horizontal stabilizer and Night starboard aileron and elevator.

Yay,I'm jumping with joy
Blenheim was interesting bomber for few technical reasons and did its job well when not interrupted by too many fighters. It was used in Africa until more modern replacements arrived,it also served in Malaya but it was Finland where it soldered the longest. I should finish C-46 sometime late Sunday and can do beta of another version of this Blenheim if needed. |

I like the early versions of the Blenheim. The later versions had that crazy looking canopy up front.
Nice Isaac
