I just found that Cleveland Model Plans (reincarnation of the old Cleveland Models) has the 1937 plans available for the Martin M-130 in a range of scales from 1/32 (48" wingspan) to 1/4 (that is a 348" span =29 feet!) This might be a great help in designing a paper model. It is at Cleveland Model Airplane Plans - Model Airplane Plans Product Detail[/urlons the
For our recent and young generations, the Cleveland Model and Supply company is the oldest balsa model airplane company in the world. It was founded in 1919, by Mr. Edward T, Pachasa, later changed to Packard. A very nice fellow which I had the opportunity to meet by personal correspondence when there was no internet. He started balsa kit production in 1926. The same year Paul K. Guillow started his company to manufacture model airplane kits and also still in business on the same site in Wakefield Mass, in the USA. Cleveland plans, more than 400 different, are still available today These designs are so accurate and attractive that they are still used either to build the models from these plans, which include all parts or to be used as basis for accurate, bigger and RC controlled flying scale model aircraft. I myself have the privilege of having 95% of all Cleveland's designs and I just have lots of fun examining each one for hours. I have also built some. Not easy but with very good flying performance. Mr. Packard stopped making balsa kits I think in the 1970s, but he continue to sell the plans for his designs. After his death, several volunteer enthusiasts and modellers have continued with this fantastic company and Cleveland plans are now available in several scales. |
