Horizontal fins and elevators
The Horizontal fin is located half way up on the vertical tail.
Here are the parts sub assemblies I used a wood piece for the spar instead of the small card stock piece from the kit and glued in place add the elevators ( with a little play for up, neutral and down positions for these photos ). Isaac

Status pics-end of the on the road building
At this point, my building on the road for this model has ended. The model needs the landing gear and canopy and those will wait until I get to build them at home ( I have to make a vacuformed canopy for all 3 Yaks I am building ).
For now, here is the status of the build so far. It took me about a week to get to this point My next posting will be the building of the Yak 25 version which was also built on the road and got to the same point in the construction. A note: The Yak 19, 25 and 30 ( first designation ) are all related and are derivative experimental planes having incremental improvements. However, that design was not able to compete with the Mig-15 and thus ended. Isaac

Isaac.....you don't sleep?
how many models you build in one week. It reminds me of the period when I was a child in the 1970s, and during the summer vacation I built two models every week ... but these were relatively simple models of the Israel Air Force magazine. keep on the good working. YOAV |

Sometimes I am in a building mood non stop . However, these are simple models, so I finish them fast. In any case, I don't spend the whole day building. I do one or two hours maximum and then stop to do something else. I will start posting on the Yak 25 build soon. It too is almost finished in a week time. Isaac

Here are the pictures of both the Yak 19 and Yak 25 models that I built while on the road in Florida last month. So far I have not built them further since I got home, but will do so soon.
These pictures show how similar both planes are and points the main differences in the tail. I plan to build the wheels, landing gears and canopies all at the same time for all 3 Yaks in progress. I will post this same set of photos with the Yak 25 so the progress is shown in both threads Isaac

Going home and packing the models
Here is a picture of my inspirational view at the place I stayed. Very quiet place ( no , I did not play golf ! )
and I packed up both models and my supplies in one clear plastic bin for the drive home. It was nice to build while on the road . Isaac

Wheels
The wheels were made for all 3 Yak's I am building and here are the steps as shown in my Yak 30 thread and Yak 25.
http://www.papermodelers.com/forum/667777-post38.html I used a circle cutter on card stock and cut out multiple circles Stack the disks to width and glue to each other. Drill a hole in the center, mount on my mini lathe and using sanding sticks, sand the wheels to shape. ready for painting by inserting a squashed tooth pick to be used as a spindle and then paint them all glue the hubs in place. A note: this is my preferred method of making wheels, and there are others Isaac

Landing gear
The Yak 19 had landing gear struts which were relatively straight as can be seen from the actual photo.
The kit, however has it bent like in the Yak 30 which is not correct for this model here. However, it is not a big deal and even if you build it as shown in the kit, it is only a small detail.' Here are my simplified struts install here : and the gear and doors installed. Here is the nose gear simplified and all 3 gears are on now. Isaac
