Hello Erik,
your remark on how big these 'small fighters' were, I remembered a picture I took a few years ago at one of many smaller railway museums in the south of England.

Dear PM's,
Thank you all once more for your kind words. It's well appreciated! Just to respond to the question Yoav posted regarding the exhaust fumes. I applied the stains by dotting with an almost dry brush. I had intended to use anthracite (Tamiya rubber black) but found out that the paint jar was empty.... so I used Tamiya German Grey instead, which almost looks the same and the closest to black I had at hand .
