I was lost for a while, a lot of complications this year, I'm catching up. Impressive work Pablo, I love how they look at your little airfield.

Iraqi Ju-90B-1?
In any event, it is very well done in your tiny scale. Don |

Thank you Don,
This is a recolor and a reduction to 1/400 of the Schreiber-Bogen-Vorlages in 1/100 (Ju-90V3 D-AURE) with a slight modification of the rudder. By now you know that I like obscure topics. It depicts one of the planes used by the Fliegerführer Irak, or Flyer Command Iraq. It very likely made a stop in route to Baghdad at Palmyra. There is very limited information about the plane, but a few photographs showing that the rudders had the fin flash only in the exterior. The wing’s markings are an informed guess. The plane is more likely a Ju-90A-1 since it has the earlier rudder and not the later oval. In any case less than 20 were constructed. They could carry 40 passengers. More to come, I need to install the propellers and the landing gear. Happy modeling, Ps, and thank you for your service! |

If you think you are confused about the look of the Ju-90, so did the gunners of the RAF and RAAF.

Ready to go to its final destination.
Here it is the Ju-90 with a simple landing gear and propellers. It was a relatively simple construction, complicated only by me since I did not mount the bulkheads on the fuselage nor the aerodynamic profiles in the wings. At this scale the thickness of the paper matters a lot.
Very early in the operations of the Fliegerführer Irak many of the allocated transports returned to Greece to participate in the invasion of Crete. At this time, I do not know which transports made it back to the Axis dominated air space. It wasn’t very clear to me how significant was the Anglo-Iraqi War. But one thing is for sure, the Iraqi oil literally was able to fuel the Allied efforts during the war. |

Escuadrila Alba / White Squadron
Dear All.
For some time, I have not posted anything, since I have been very busy with work and daughters. May be this is not exactly the better place for this but, Romania siding with the Axis unfortunately placed them fighting the wrong enemy. One story that captivated my attention was the Escuadrila Alba (White Squadron) operated entirely by aviatrixes, they performed medical evacuations in the Eastern front. Famous for their participation at Stalingrad operating RWD-13 at the beginning colored white (hence their name) and prominent red cross insignias. Apparently this didn’t help much preventing attacks by Soviet fighters and switching to green and red cross insignia, and eventually reverting to green and the Romanian cross insignia. I was determined to design a suitable small-scale model, 1/100 or less, of these planes. While researching the topic, I stumbled on suitable skins for RC planes designed by Marek Rokowski, whom I have not been able to contact yet. Attached I included a video on the Escuadrila Alba.
