Fighting the wrong enemy

I have been reading about the exploits of l'Armée de l'Air de l'armistice, or their misfortunes. Very interesting reading, and the biggest foe was non other than the RAF, frequent clashes with the FAA, and probably the most famous with the US Navy (or rather FAA in disguise). I am sure that Chicharrero would be interested, and maybe Don. Feel free to contribute.

Curtiss Hawk 75

One of most depicted planes of this force has been the Curtiss Hawk 75 (P-36 in US service). Here is Trotskiy's reduced a little bit.

Well done, wireandpaper, it must be 1/400 or even smaller.

Thank you Rata!

Papermate, you are the one to showed me to do tiny models. The model is in 1/400 my usual scale, 1/2 your traditional scale. And what about your 1/1000 airliners?
Airliners and Aircrafts 1/1000

The tiny Vichy Hawk is very well done, Pablo, and it's nice to see a Trotskiy again. I built the Trotskiy Vichy Hawk about 12 years ago. It was one of the residents of the "Bowl of Trotskies" that I used to have in my Army War College office.

Those books look very interesting indeed. The Vichy forces certainly had colorful airplanes.

Wildcat vs Curtiss 75

Yes Don:
The Troskies are really nice and relatively easy to reduce due to their design of a single piece fuselage/ruder (most of them), wings and ailerons. It also helps their overlapping tabs common to some paper model designers from Japan. Unfortunately at 1/400 most of their wonderful artwork is lost. Nevertheless, I am happy for the variety of topics, mostly WWII.

Here is a US Navy Wildcat foe. They clashed during Operation Torch. The score according to Wikipedia: 15 Hawk vs. 7 Wildcats lost. Tactics, exhaustion or just more US Navy planes?

I like both of those planes, real life, and the models here.

Reason could be a blend of all those, plus a couple more factors; real life is often a multiple-factor thing.

Ms 406

Another Fighter that fought in Levant was the Morane-Saulnier M.S.406.
This is another Trotskiy reduced and repainted with the red and yellow Vichy ID bars.

ps my camera didn't want to cooperate and focus properly
