While grinding teeth at re doing the fuselage, the 2 small aux fuel tanks were completed. I use type writer paper on these small accessories as it is easier to form the delicate noses/cone shaped things. They are fragile at first, so handle with care. after glue dries it is surprising how robust the little things are. The 262 b required the tanks as the back seater took up one of the fuselage fuel tanks in the original design...

Fuselage 2.0
After some re coloring or the re coloring the fuselage is now back on track.
The added parts are the re designed, thanks to Brent for guidance, canopy, some bulges for presumably the canon ammo drums and little bulge for a direction finder like antenna. Progress! The last pics are how to do the nose cone. the very tip is a little disc that if added is a bit flat. I took the end of a knitting needle and rounded it so now it looks a tiny bit better... |

Next up is fitting/attaching the wings. here is where this model really shines as is. there was a wing fillet in the Brent kit that I thought would be needed, but after only very minor trimming the wings fit very well so the fillet wasn't used...

That is looking really nice Ted. I didn't use the fillets either when I built the A-1 version.

thanks Brent. These are basically great kits that lend themselves to mods and recolors that are only limited to your imagination.
The radar was the biggest challenge to this conversion. The first 2 pics show a mark 1 attempt, all from paper. It kinda looked ok and it was fitted to the complete fuselage but it lacked some finesse. So the mark 2 was re-designed and brush bristles were used for the dipoles and I think it looks a little more convincing... |

thanks guys. going a bit slower with re re paints and re-makes but getting there. attaching the engines was a little awkward. there are guide lines for lateral attachment on the bottom wings but the center engine cut out was a little sketchy. I picked where the wing just covered the cut out section so the little fillet piece on the forward top wing hid the center section cut out, looks about right so there it stays!
