Dear Sergio, Mor, Gary, Yoav, Isaac, Mike and Rhaven Blaack, thank you for your reactions, well appreciated!

Yoav, regarding your question, for the additional detailing of the cockpit I have used slices of thin plastic rods, make "Evergreen Scale Models" (see picture), with diameters 0.75mm and 0.50mm.

The plastic rods are available in various sizes and for other purposes I also use 1.0 and 1.2mm diameter. Bought them in a local hobbyshop and there are many more varieties to choose from, not only rods but also pipes, beams and the like.

Regards,
Erik

Ejection seat

The ejection seat is a nicely detailed part of the model. A bit of a challenge is the curved back and back rest, which needs to be reinforced by a pad of 1mm cardboard. To make the cardboard more flexible I made cuts on both sides, pushed it into an S-curve and then glued it as filler in the back cushion. The green oxygen bottle is made of a piece of plastic rod, diameter 1.2mm.

I detailed the straps based on internet pictures of the ejection seat and used the launch rails of the GPM model for extra detailing.

Here and there a few more details to the instrument panel and I used clear gloss paint to highlight the dial and scopes. Finally, the seat in place and in between also the gun details.

That's it for this year..... I wish you all a very merry Christmas and a good start of the New Year. 2020 already, how time flies!!

Cheers,
Erik

nicely done Erik....very good work with the ejection seat details.

but i think you will have a little bit problem to close the canopy because of the launch rails you added, unless you shorten their height a little, or leave an open canopy.

YOAV

look here when the canopy is closed.
the space is quite crowded.
try to do something.

Air intake

Hello PMs, first of all a Happy and Healthy 2020! Although I enjoyed a short Christmas break there wasn't much time to spare for modeling. Too many other things kept me occupied.

Thank you again Rhaaven Blaack, Yair, Sergio, Yoav, Mike and Gary. Yoav, you may well be right regarding the ejection seat rails. I shortened them a bit and now they level the parachute pack on top of the head rest, which is also in line with what I've seen on actual pictures.

The cockpit section is now attached to the main fuselage. Former 6D Middle indeed only has to be glued at both tips and I had to tilt it to ensure a good fit of the front section to the fuselage.

Well, next is the air intake section, which holds the front landing gear bay. I used this part from the GPM kit, and similar to the main gear well, it appeared to be too big. Really amazing. Had to reduce the size to 90% for a good fit.
First I thought to build up the air intake exactly in accordance with the instructions, then to cut out the wheel door and finally to install the landing gear bay. This resulted in a clash with the intake channel and there was no way to get this fixed without damaging the entire section.... hence, I had to start anew.

Now, I cut out the door first and then installed the nose gear bay. Rear former 14D1 appeared to be too big and therefore I opted to install it right at the rear edge of the air intake section (instead of 3-4mm away from the edge as intended), and to cut away the gluing tabs at the lower part 7 of the main fuselage. Luckily both fuselage and air intake assembly mated well.

I must confess I did not entirely follow Yoav's instructions. Initially, the air inlet duct was glued at the upper side only (the protruding part) and the entire circumference only after the air intake assembly had been fully attached to the fuselage. Last item installed was the spacer/stiffener in the duct.

A sigh of relief, too much trial and error to my liking.... The canopy is next but I may do the vertical stabilizer first, need to continue with something straight forward first, ha, ha....

Cheers,
Erik
