Chuck Yeager's Canberra
Colonel Charles E. (“Chuck”) Yeager, USAF, commanding the 405th Fighter Wing, with crew chief TSGT Rodney Sirois, before a combat mission with a Martin B-57 Canberra bomber during the Vietnam War. [IMG][/IMG] During the Vietnam War, Yeager commanded five different units and detachments based in Southeast Asia. He again flew the aforementioned F-100, along with the Convair F-102 Delta Dagger and the McDonnell F-4 Phantom II. But Yeager primarily flew Martin B-57 Canberra bombers, racking up 414 additional combat hours during the fighting. The plane type was unusual in that it was a license-built version of a British jet, designed by English Electric. Prized for their big bomb loads, Yeager and his pilots used the B-57s to attack troops and supply lines coming down the Ho Chi Minh trail from North Vietnam. Yeager flew his final active-duty Air Force flight in 1975, by that time accumulating 10,131.6 flight hours in 361 different types of airplanes. Best Regards, Tony. |

I found 2 other versions.
This one is called "Black Knights". Not sure if it's based on a real plane. My Google-Fu failed me. NASA short wing version. |
