Hey guys, do you think this might be a good time to pursue this through p. m. and not on the build thread.?

It’s been a pleasure sharing a few of my models with y’all but I can see that even an innocent paper model forum is just yet another social media site for people to get snippy on. I’ll be avoiding posting on here anymore and just enjoying paper modeling on my own

I'll be the first to say thats too bad.
You took things the wrong way.

If you manage to get in touch with Bob Bendorf and he doesn't mind you sharing his modified model,
I hope you'll return and share it with those who are interested.

Dave,

He's not the first one you've chased away with your gruff, opinionated manner.

opinionated...having an opinion. lol this is a crime now around here?
gruff...because you have an opinion and share it on the forum, you are therefore "gruff". LOL
Can you not see how arrogant that statement is?

lol I won't apologize for answering a question and not sugar coating it.
I won't apologize for being straightforward, honest and yes, sometimes very blunt.

I didn't say anything offensive or insulting.

He brought up the topic of sharing a model that he had modified.
I reiterated the facts "you have to get permission from the author" ...
not just for him, but for many others around here that constantly ignore it.
But it was obvious to me that he was looking for permission, like so many do that ask the same question.

I am one of the very few who around here that stands up for designers and isn't afraid to speak up about it.
Those that are tired of hearing it, offended by it, or hurt by it, or "chased away" by it,
are either guilty of something related or upset that they didn't get the response they wanted.

I didn't ask him to leave...I didn't accuse him of anything.
He overreacted.

I'm not going to apologize for having an opinion on matters,
and I'm not going to stifle that opinion because you have thin skin.
If it makes you run away and hide...well thats your own doing, not mine.

A bunch of you will now call me arrogant for this post...
lol being honest isn't arrogance.
I'm sorry if you don't want to hear my honest opinion...
but I have a right to comment and take part in a discussion, and I have a right not to lie.

You also have a right to let it slide.

I don't have a dog in the fight (although I'd like to see the model built) but Skylarc's original post on the matter was straightforward and unequivocal. He said he would like to be able to share his updated copy, "but I want to make sure I’m not violating any original work copyright first." (Emphasis added.)

He is clearly saying he's not going to share it until he a) gets permission and/or b) determines he's not violating any copyright by sharing it. I read nothing in his subsequent comments that indicated he had any desire or inclination to do anything inappropriate.

You say you're merely answering a question and if we don't like the answer yadda yadda yadda. Here's the thing: Skylarc never asked a question. He made a statement, namely that he wasn't going to share the file until he could determine whether it was ok to do so. You answered a question he never asked. He never asked it because he already knew the answer.

All this was unnecessary.
