NAVY Jet's middle 1950's
This is a very nice topic a little bit shadowed today.
The early NAVY Jet's always fascinated me more than there USAF counterparts. Here 4 types are one near each other : A-4 Skyhawk F-4D-1 Skyray F7u-3M Cutlass FJ-4B Fury All of them started thier carier in mid 1950's and developed in a different way. All are in 1:48 scale and in next chapters I will deal with all as a group and separately. Yair |

They look very pretty. I've always like these old drone controller colors shown on the Fury and Skyray.

Are you going to compare the various publishers?
Or are you going to compare the specifics of each aircraft? If you do the first thing, this will help all builders in the future If you do the second, this information can be read in your previous threads and on Wikipedia. Please consider only doing the comparison of the publishers Rick

Dear Rick - as always you can read my previous posts and Wikipedia but at least in my eyes I
give a short review and if possible some images from the build process and as you suggested what was my impression from each publisher which is an excellent idea ! Yair |

Hi CMDRTED - yes this is the WHM model and still the one to go as no other publisher raised the glove. If the Cutlass was equipped with a decent engines it could have been one of the most potent fighter of its time.

Comparision between the Jets
Fron the four Jets - Skyray Cutlass Fury only the Skyhawk was a real success if we consider its longevity and war participation.
All the rest simply fall in between and never fired in anger ! The Skyhawk had a long battle in Vietnam was used heavily in the attrition war and Yom Kippur war by the Isrelians and fought in Falkland war for Argentine - just to mention main events. Excellent collection. Very nice builds. But you left out the tail sitters, the Pogo and Salmon. Really nice paint scheme on the Skyray.

Well, I disagree. The Douglas F4D Skyray was known as "the Ford of the air", for his easy and smooth handling and a pilot's delight. A 1947 design, no chance for using her at war scenario, just because: There are no war in which use it!!!
