Scratchbuilding the De Havilland Vampire T35

Hello all, time to start a new scratchbuild in parallel to some others. Choose the Vampire T35 trainer (actually T11 build in Australia), in the colors of the Australian Telstars aerobatic team that was flying it from 1963 up to 1968. Scale is 1-33.

Started with a draft build and than colored it. Used the fuselage / wings connections and the canopy at the front for the bonding line of the parts (orignaly Yoav's idea). It complicated the parts foldout, but I think it worth it.

For coloring the team's colors I used this picture, and discovered that it contradict the drawing I am using (picture / drawing compar at the scale of 1-33).

Going according to the picture, and ajusted the parts.

For the nose parts, trying to do it from two main parts as seen in the next picture.

Shalom Mor

Cool Great start

Shalom

This is a nice start of a version of the vampire that is not so popular. However, the trainers were numerous with many air forces around the world especially in areas of British influence.

I had the opportunity of seeing a British version in France when I was working with Airbus. They had an aviation museum in Toulouse.

I know that the French built many single seat Vampires under license and named them Mistral.

Here are some pics I took that may help your model development:

Thanks Gary for your interest and commet.

Pictures are great, thanks Isaac. The most common vampire trainer is the T11, I chose the T35 only because of the coloring. Don't think there is a big difference between the two types.

The nose part was a bigger challenge than I expected, at the end, the upper part was done from 3 parts. Can't say that I am 100% happy with the result.

Working now on the wings

Be safe,

The model is moving in the right direction

- wings are done and assembeled with the main gear wells integrated as part of the wing bonded to the fuselage.
- Tail booms and vertical tails ready for bonding to the wings.

Next step is bonding the tail booms and horizontal tail.

The blood sucker mammal is taking shape!!! Nice riveted details enhance this model. Waiting eagerly for your next post and final assembly. Best Regards, Tony.
