MiG-15 by WAK. 1:33 Scale

This is a newly published model by WAK of a Lim-2 (MiG-15) and is in 1:33 scale. A moulded canopy and laser cut accessories were purchased at the same time

Some of the recent publications by WAK have been of a more simplified variety. But none the less, fun to build and as always a learning experience.

This model was started some weeks ago and posted on FB. It was suggested to me to start a thread here.

Cool. I was looking at this model on WAK page not even 20 min ago. I'm not so much interested in getting one but some of those simplified design ideas are really cool and i can use them in smaller scale.

WAK does some nice models, too bad they are not for sale in digital format.

Interesting! I guess, I will have to add it to my Mig 15/17 marathon build.
Mig-15 marathon

Although, the coloration of this Mig-15 is somewhat bland, it will make repainting it easier.

I don't see much difference though from the Hobby Model Mig-15 / Lim2 ?

Yep, WAK has issued quite a few in this series recently. I believe they are aimed at intermediate modelers -- the kits are typically rated 2/5 for difficulty. Marcin Dworzecki has been doing the artwork on some of the series, and he does many of Halinski's kits, so you know the coloring should be very good. Also, this MiG-15 kit is designed by Lech Kołodziejski of CardPlane fame -- it's nice to see that he is still busy producing new designs.

Hi Tim,

Great to see you build over here!
Good luck with your work!

If I am correct this MiG-15bis was flown by Stanislaw Skalski one of the top scoring aces of WWII.

That's great news. Lech's designs typically go together very well. I cut my card modeling teeth on some of his free designs (WZ-X, Bartel Bm-6, etc.).

Started building up the fuselage.

Didn't read the instructions and put the nose intake collar the wrong way round. Filled it with card and roughly sanded it down. It looks better, will paint it later in the build. Added some weight to the nose area too.

Joined the sections together. They all lined up nicely. Wing spar is lolly-pop stick
