1/32 Kittyhawk Mk.III ("Lady Godiva") No. 5 Squadron SAAF, Italy, 1945

Here's the new model I've built.
Kittyhawk Mk.III ("Lady Godiva") of No. 5 Squadron SAAF, from Italy, 1945. This is my grandson's repaint of Zarkov's 1/32 kit. Some of you may remember that I did the original version in 2020. It can be found here: 1/32 Curtiss P-40M Warhawk
As the building process of SAAF Kittyhawk was identical, I'm posting only the photos of the finished aircraft this time. Those who are interested in various aspects of the mentioned building process, can visit the link that is above.

Photos of the finished "Lady Godiva" are also my grandson's, Kacper(PacificWind), work.

Nice one Zenon.I see you had some trouble with canopy.Troubles like this were the reason why I stopped doing transparent canopies. Plastic tended to go straight and I didn't have a glue strong and fast enough to hold them in place.

Nice repaint Kacper

Nice repaint Kacper
I too see Zenon / Kacper had issues with fitting the canopy. The solution is to make a proper vacuformed canopy integral with the windshield, or alternatively have the canopy in the open position.

Butelczynski and Isaac, yes, there were some troubles with the canopy in this kit. Actually, the segment with the cockpit has its sides a bit too low. The solution is to modify that segment and make those sides higher. There's no other way here. This time, I trusted the instruction, drawings. My first P-40 from Zarkov has its canopy imperfect too but as it's in dark green color, it's not that noticeable. For the future, I have two more repaints of this kit and next time, I'll modify the cockpit/canopy area. One plane is a Witold Urbanowicz's P-40M and the second one is a RAAF Kittyhawk Mk.III from Milne Bay, New Guinea 1943.
Today I'm also posting extra photos. One with "Lady Godiva" and my first Zarkov's original P-40, two with "Lady Godiva" and my very old "Aleutian Tiger", and two close-ups of the Aleutian Tiger's canopy, to show that the final result in building often depends on the designer's work, not the modeler's.

Vinalssergio155, being a retiree, I have a lot of time for paper models and my other hobbies, like fishing or reading. You always have to do something with your time to not go crazy.
