Today ecardmodels has made available the Viasa and Paisa versions of the Dc-9-14.
Both are classic airplanes and part of the aviation history.

Two more Dc-9-30 under construction.
The grey color of the Aserca YV2434 is really a pearl one, highly reflective. I'll recomento to cover the finished model with a shiny layer of varnish for plastic models
One of this days, don't know when, I'll design and assemble the MD-82

Today the Dc-9-32 Aserca YV2434 has been released. This plane has a special paint job, being that the grey color is in fact pearl, hightly reflective. I recomend to use a gloss finish after assembling it.
The picture with the passengers belongs to a cousin of my son.

Thanks, Pericles!

I have been informed that the DC-9-31 YV2259 I uploaded to ecardmodels time ago 1/100 DC-9-31 Aserca Europcar Paper Model - EcardModels
was called "Iguana" by the spotters, but "Perico" (Parrot) by the crew and ground staff

Today I took 10 minutes to research the DC-9-21
There were only 10 planes, all requested by SAS. Simply put, the DC-9-21 was a DC-9-10 with the engines and bigger wings of the DC-9-30.
So, having both versions done, it's going to be easy to do this one.
You can see that I'm planning to do four liveries of this plane, but in fact it's just one.
The prototype (N8965U) went to SAS as LN-RLL, changed designation (and later colors) as OY-KIA, and at last was adquired by Aeropostal as YV-13C.

A warning: in Flight Simulator you can find a Dc-9-21 from Ryanair. That company never had -21, and the serial EI-DAE belongs to a 737-800.

A few minutes more today, starting with the OY-KIA.
The wings, including that unusual positioning of the register (painted over the flaps!) are finished. I'm starting to paint the fuselage, too.
So, bit a bit, another for the collection!

Another ten minutes of relax, and the engines are almost ready.

Two interesting points about them. First, the OY-KIA had the reverses angled 17º . You can see it easily in the side picture.
This was a very liked modification in the life of the DC-9 series, because it improved the handling of the plane while braking. BUT it was a "field modification", done by the groud crew and by just screwing the parts in another position. You can see the picture from the rear of the unidentified plane that it was possible to have mixed positions in the same fuselage.
It was so easy to do (and reverse) that years later, when OY-KIA became YV-13C, the reverses were again perfectly horizontal.

And the second interesting point: the picture with Aeropostal colors shows the registration TI-AZS. It was leased to the company Tica, based in Costa Rica, but it didn't worked out. I'm not going to depict this last registration, because the changes are minimal compared with YV-13C.
