SSW D-III by Marek and repainted by Fitter 1/33rd Scale
Well...the siren song of another WWI machine was irresistible so I took a tiny break from the Shoki and slapped this guy together. It was a nice and rather simple build and looks neat when done. Fitter has several of these repainted in nice schemes. And the Marek design did fit extremely well. My only complaint (suggestion?) is that I didn't do well with the paper box spars. For me, I can't get a good wing profile and it's harder to get a straight wing as well. Next time, I'll make ribs or have a balsa core that has been airfoiled a bit. I still like it, though and it's a colorful addition. You can also see it next to my Albatros (man...it was a tiny little beast!) and next to the Roden 1/32nd plastic example. Holds up extremely well while being just a tad smaller. I'd love to see Mario of Matt77 fame do a texture job on this puppy!
Thanks for looking and now back to the GPM Shoki...Dan |
