1/144 Fokker C.VII-W

The last time I built an aircraft, was in November 2020. Since then, I haven't touched anything that flies.
By the end of April 2021, my grandfather began to work on the Dutch destroyer, Hr.Ms. Van Galen (Admiralen-class). It's in the 1/144 scale, resized Modelik kit. And what's unusual for WWII and Pre-War destroyers, the Admiralen-class carried one recon seaplane, Fokker C.VII-W. However, there was no catapult installed on the ship and the aircraft had to be lowered by a crane.

Why did I build this Fokker? Well, I just wanted to help my grandfather with his project, and knowing that he hates to build those small planes on ships, I asked him if I could build that C.VII-W. Of course, he gave me the parts with Fokker and said "I'm sure you're gonna do a beautiful job with it.".

The model itself was fun to build(obviously I'm talking here about the Fokker). Parts are perfectly designed, everything fits great. There's only one small issue worth mentioning. The drawings from the kit show the fuselage struts in an incorrect position. In the real plane, the fuselage struts "form into a pyramid", so I installed them exactly like this.

Here's a link for my grandfather's Van Galen: 1/144 Hr.Ms. Van Galen

Thanks Ray, Sergio, wireandpaper, and Pericles! It's nice to hear you like it!

Pericles, looks like you're pretty much right that it's an unusual subject. I was curious if there are other paper versions of this plane but I didn't find anything. Even Bruno's S&P catalogue doesn't have a C.VII-W.

Good-looking model, Kacper. At 1/144, the airplane model is very small, but the destroyer will be rather large.

Several (six or seven) of those C.VII-Ws were still in existence with the MLD in the Netherlands East Indies when the Pacific War began according to Tom Womack, The Dutch Naval Air Force Against Japan: The Defense of the Netherlands East Indies, 1941-1942 (Jefferson, NC: McFarland, 2006), pp. 7, 25, 36, 167.

Thanks, Don.

I'm posting two photos with Fokker on the destroyer.
The ship has been finished and you can see it here: 1/144 Hr.Ms. Van Galen

Excellent model building, good family cooperation, and a fine way to remember the history.
