I find that the layered card method is much easier to work with. In the past, I made the wheels out of plywood, but that method took much longer and produced more dust.

Cool Done

After adding the small details of three antennas, two wing fences and small flap actuator covers, the model is done.

It was a fun project with few issues. I still have some other Skyline models to build.

Here is the completed DC-9 30 series in Eastern Air Lines colors

as an aside, I wonder if there is a good model of an early BOAC Comet (British airliner)

Great job on the wheels Isaac, especially since they're pretty small. I remember making the wheels out of thin circles with different diameter and didn't bother to sand the edges. Firstly because of their small size and secondly, once painted with rubber black, you hardly see any details.
Maybe I haven't looked well enough at the pictures but I miss the static discharges at the wing tips and tail surfaces? Thought they were also included in the instructions.

Anyway, a fine result and if you manage to get your hands on a Comet, that would be very interesting!

Cheers,
Erik

Another fantastic model Isaac. The issues you had don't appear in the finished product. A great representation of Eastern Airlines DC-9.

Well done,
Gary

Erik

I found making the wheels of any model much easier when laminated a bit larger diameter and then mounting the dried assembly onto my rotary tools. Even small wheels of 3 mm and up can be mounted. If a small screw can't be used as a center shaft for mounting, I take a paper clip straight section and push thru the card wheels, apply super glue and then gently sand it to shape. I always include the wheel building in each of my building log here so folks can see how it is done.

The small discharge wicks were not installed because they will be lost and broken in no time here, since I am running out of space and many of my models end up in storage for a while.

Gary
This was another fun airliner and I like this scale for them. I will go back and forth with airliners and military jets building.

More pictures next.

Thanks

Isaac

Isaac,

Thanks for the glam shots, it looks like an Eastern Airlines commercial.
