Thanks a lot, guys! Your comments are much appreciated.
Now that my brother in law finished his visit, I can get back to a bit of modeling. I got the other MG finished and installed both to their mounts. Now I need to finish up the ammo chutes and a cover that goes between the guns. Then I'll make a windscreen and then it's on to the exhaust. I may try to make the spinner and prop tonight, though... we'll see! More soon, Dan |

That sure looks like success!
And may the success continue.

Nice work Dan, it's all looks very realistic and worn-out, exactly the way I always imagine WW1 aircraft. It makes you realize that these pioneer pilots were in fact dare devils in the highest degree.

Indeed, huge, err, 'stones' on those folk. What to say about the early women pilots I will leave to you but huge bravery every day they went up. There was a documentary on the build of a replica "Waterbird", a 1911 project at the first float plane project for the Royal navy (UK). A quote from the CAA, "We will license it to fly but, only as high as you are prepared to fall".

Thanks so much, All...and Mike: what an awesome replica. Definitely real flying. That is so amazing.
I got the basic exhaust and prop parts done. They both need a little touch up but do look the part. The exhaust is a bit too flat and the wrong cross section plus I imparted a sweeping bend in it to look more like the original. I also needed to trim off a bit where each exhaust touched the cylinders as the whole thing stuck out way too far as per the kit. Looking pretty awesome! I can't wait to get the spinner done and then start on the wings. More soon... Dan |

Very fine work Dan. That exhaust is very well crafted.

Beautiful work on the engine and exhaust stack. Makes a real difference since it is so prominent on the Albatross.
As an aside, I got to see one fly ( a full scale replica/restoration ) in Reinbeck New York many years ago. Great looking plane. Love the all wood fuselage.

Great work, as usual, Dan!
The exhaust manifold, prop, and engine look exceptionally realistic. Don |
