Thanks, Don, Ray, Isaac and Gary! This thing is moving along and hasn't disappointed yet. Don and Ray...I look forward to the next meeting since I won't be entertaining guests and can actually show up!
More tonight...working on the spinner as we type...Dan |

Hello, All!
I got my spinner done. You can see my initial terrible layering job and then I sanded, filled etc. until I got a pretty smooth and primed piece. I then mixed some red, yellow and a bit of white to approximate the nose band. Not perfect, but not too shabby either. I like the way the prop/spinner turned out. Next will be some more fuselage details and then on to the wings! Thanks for looking, Dan |

Smooth as a babys.... That is my preferred way of doing spinners
if necessary. Works well. Looks great!

Thanks Ray, V155 and Bob! I'm really enjoying this one.
I got the landing gear, axle cover, bungees and safety wire installed. The only thing (other than the bungees etc.) I did differently than the kit was adding thin piano wire cores into the gear struts. This just makes them easier and more positive to locate and more robust too. The kit calls for thicker card cores. I'm just more comfortable with wire. Some dabs of CA and boom-done! Of course in my zeal...I hope I can get the lower wing on easily now! More soon, Dan |

Simply a fantastic job, Dan. Slowly by slowly it's really coming alive. Amazing, all these "organ pipes" on top. I'm sure pilots must have been less enthusiastic about it, obstructing forward view and a lot of noise/dirt from the exhaust. Not really considered important in those days.....

Thanks Erik and Don! I too am amazed what these folks went through but I figure they probably thought little of it. It was state of the art!
I got the tires and wheels installed. I think they look a little small, but I checked the diameter and in 1/33rd scale, they are spot on...so I glued them on! Wings get started tomorrow...Dan |

They look great Dan. This is an amazing model. Is it the photos or are those metal rims (not rubber)?
Gary
