Albatros DVa in 1/33rd from L.P. Igualada
Hello Folks,
I started this guy about a month ago during Wayne's virtual meetings (you should come) but it only started to resemble bits of an Albatros tonight. So far, it's been steady as she goes! Parts call for backing the paper on 0.5, 0.7 and 1.0mm card stock (in my case, balsa). I learned from experience that those tiny differences are critical to fit! So tonight was lots of cutting out, sanding and then finally getting some cockpit interior parts started with formers and even the little aileron pulleys on the floor. They need to be rigged, but it's starting to slowly resemble an Albatros cockpit! More tomorrow and thanks for looking, Dan |

Which one are you building?
Have seen Igualada's build vid for this and his Spad? What is this virtual meeting of which you speak? (Balsa, interesting) |

Thanks for the interest, everyone.
rbakerj: This one is Mai's aircraft. The SPAD I built was the XIII flown by Swaab. It was a joy to assemble and looks really neat when done. I plan on having this one look the same! Those videos are amazing and helpful too. A bit more tonight with some more forward cockpit internals and another former added. Slowly but surely...Dan Last edited by smithdr; 06-25-2021 at 12:00 AM. |

Thanks a lot, Erik. I hope to follow in your Spitfire's footsteps!
I got a bit more done. Basically the control column and some other do-dads. All of this is just as the designer made it...darn nice. I have only added a throttle cable thus far. I will add trigger cables and a couple more things and then it's on to the seat. Maybe tomorrow. Though...it's supposed to be 110F in Tacoma tomorrow. Usually, we are at about 75F. It will be...interesting! More soon...Dan |

Superb, Dan!
As I said yesterday, it's like looking at an actual full-sized aircraft under construction. Don |
