RAF Short Belfast

This is Bruno’s Belfast, originally in 1/300 and free, reduced to 1/400.
It only took me 3 years to do it.
Before I put the propellers and scratch build a landing gear, I wanted to take some aerial views.
I hope you like them.
Happy modeling!

Very nice.

I have fond memories of these aircraft and can still hear the sound of those engines!

Thank you Kevin and Don for stopping by.

Here is some information when the Belfast was the state of the art. It had a rather short career with the RAF. Nevertheless, it soldiered on as in the private sector. Ironically the RAF had to charter it to deliver equipment to the Falklands and the Iraq wars. Budget savings?

There is conflicting information about its payload. It has been mentioned that it could carry a Chieftain MBT (55 long tons), but the payload quoted has been 80,000 lb. If the case of the MBT is true it would be closer in class to the C-17 rather than the A400M. If the later is correct it would be a little bit shy of the 81,600 lb. of the Atlas. Any comments?

In any case, it is a majestic aircraft!

Delivering Saladins

Thank you Sergio, Don and Mike for stopping by!
Here is the Belfast delivering three Saladins.
The armor cars are from Pips, reduced from 1/250 to 1/400.

Family Portrait

Thank you Kevin for stopping by.

Here is a family picture of all the post-war cargo/passenger designs by Short.
I am including the Skyvan that I recolor and adapted from Holger Harders and my own designs of the 330 and the 360 that I did for the "Additions to S&P 300 series.

I hope you like the comparison.

ps Saracens also from Pips
