Cool Boeing P-26 1/100 Fiddlers Green

Hello my friends!

After a long time off due to professional and academic commitments, we are back.

I was impressed with the assembly of a Fiddlers Green P-26 that I saw here at the Forum on a large scale and analyzing the model I found it quite competent, considering that Chyp Finn hand-drawn it in the late 80's and the fuselage has only three parts. This model has gained new life since Chris Sthal made several repaints and introduced new parts to the model such as antennas, sight tube, new engine face, propeller and a complete cockpit.

My modifications were a little bit improving the propeller hub and adding a full cockpit, the wheels were laminated with thick cardboard.

The P-26 is a classic example of a transitional military fighter from the 1930s, being the first US military monoplane with a metallic surface, but retaining characteristics of biplanes such as flight and landing cables in the form of bracing straps. Known as the peashooter, it was adopted by the US Army Air Corps in 1933 and operated in the US until 1941. It was used in combat in the Sino-Japanese conflict, the Spanish Civil War and in the hands of the fledgling Philippine Air Corps, hastily formed to face Japanese naval aviation in 1941. The P-26 is one of the most famous fighter planes of the 1930s and at least one is still in flight, apart from a few replicas. Two Fiddlers Green models reduced to 1/100 scale with Stalharts modes and add ons. The olive green being repainted by the friend "Rata".

Smile Second P-26

This version is a regular version (original scale is 1/49) with another classic USAAC scheme.

In this version, which was the first I built, I used the features of the model that I refined in the first model I showed, the biggest problem with the FG P-26 is the step that is on the back and in the transition between the cockpit and the rear part of the fuselage.

Very nice build. I didn't know P-26 had so much wiring and antennas on it.

Outstanding work on this old classic (both the airplane and Chyp's hand-drawn model are classics in my opinion).

Thank you very much my friends for the words. I was actually surprised by this model. I had already built Marek's P-26 in 1/100 scale and despite having bought this model from Fiddlers Green many years ago, I always looked down on it with a certain contempt for thinking it was inaccurate. But after seeing it built by others, and even though I'm not a rivet counter compared to plans, I found the model quite competent. The handles are made with gray painted brush bristles. Certainly there will be other versions of the P-26 right here, some repainted by Chris, others repainted by Rata and some repainted by myself. It is a simple and quick model to make (even with cables) and as you can see it is very interesting.

The next P-26 is a ROCAF machine to make pair with my Martim 139WC. Is a repaint and mod by Chris Sthal, reduced by me to 1/100, as always.
