1/144 FG-1 Corsair, 100 Hour War (FAS)

Also known as the "Football War", this war broke out after increasing hostilities between Honduras and El Salvador.
This was preceded by rioting and claims of host nationals abuse of the visiting team in soccer games between the two countries.

One of the aircraft used was the FG-1d Corsair. The FG-1 Corsair was
really nothing more than an F4U, manufactured at a Goodyear plant.

So, away we go. I first did the repaint of Bruno's (SNP) Corsair, using Inkscape and references found
on the web. Most photos show some national markings on the fuselage, or some yellow identification bands.
I found one picture of an aircraft with plain camouflage on the fuselage and upper wings. This is a rare one I chose to depict.

I then rescaled the 1/100 kit to my preferred 1/144. I added engine cylinders to the engine plate,
just to make it a little more interesting in the cowl. I have included these in the kit.
Using my dapping block, I tried to give the front of the cowling a little more rounded shape to make it less angular.

Well, let's take a little look, shall we?

There is a little joke that goes here, IYKYK

Thanks for stopping by. This kit should be available at Ecardmodels.com later this week.

Very nice, in "la Guerra del Futbol" was the last time Mustangs Vs Corsairs and Corsairs vs Corsairs met. Very interesting decorations on the planes.
Thank you for sharing!

Fantastic work in such a small scale!
It's also good to see a Corsair in colors other than blue or gray.

Great depiction of the Corsair. I love that paint scheme. Well done Ray.

I am always struck by how beautiful your models turn out at such tiny scale! This Corsair in particular is stunning!
