Same here. I didn't know at that age these types had been afflicted by Merlin.

I was working on and off (mostly off) on this but then CMRTED presented his neat build of Brent's excellent S&P Grumman Hellcat repaint. Inspired by this I got stuck in and finished it.
A while back Bruno released a bunch of US Navy Blue Angels types. Among them was his old Grumman F6F-5 to which he'd added landing gear. Being an old fusspot and not being particularly happy with a first build attempt I fiddled about and added some changes: ''Hellcat Grin'' cowl front, engine, reshaped canopy, rear fuselage panel lines, repositioned fuselage U.S.Navy script plus reshaped wing and tailplane roots. Though not shown in this 'in flight' display Bruno's landing gear is excellent. I've added those changes to a Royal Navy Hellcat I (F6F-3) repaint that I'll start test building ASAP and release soon. Let me know what you think.

The way I judge the quality of the design and assembly of my own 1:100 aircraft is by observing it at 30cm (no more, no less), the realism must be there. And considering the quality of this model's execution, I don't doubt it. So congratulations!

Designing it in 1:66 was a challenge for me. Reduced to 1:100, and despite some necessary simplifications, its assembly remains a challenge. But what a fabulous plane! A choice piece in a 1:100 collection with a fascinating history!

Thanks for looking in and commenting guys!
Re the Hellcat mods, one little wrinkle I did discover is the different front canopy framing on the the -3 and -5 variants.

Progress on Le Criquet's Bleriot 110 Golden Age record breaker.
Though large, it was an amazingly slender and elegant machine. Had to cheat a bit on the front of the wing/fuselage joint. A small gap (my fault) that needed a small fairing to cover.
