Suchoi-11 Angraf model in 1/33
This is another in a continuing series of the Soviet Air Force Suchoi fighter planes.
I have two Suchoi-7, one Suchoi-9 and one Suchoi-15. I also built a first designation Suchoi-9 ( looks like a German Me-262 ) and a first designation Su-15, as well as a 2 seater Suchoi-22UMK and a Su-35. Now to complete that series, I will build a Suchoi-11. Some links to the above models I built. Suchoi-7BKL Polish AF. Hobby Model 1/33 scale Suchoi Su-7 Egyptian Air Force Model-Kom kit in 1/33 scale Suchoi SU-9 Fishpot Hobby Model in 1/33 scale Su-9 first generation-Orel 1/33 scale Sukhoi Su-15 (1949) Model-Kom in 1/33 A bit background. The Suchoi-11 was intended to be a large interceptor based on the Suchoi-9. It would two large air to air missiles to intercept formations of heavy NATO bombers in case of incursions or invasion of the USSR. As such, the aircraft was a bit larger than the SU-9. However, as it turned out, the Suchoi-11 was just good enough in its current form and a decision was made to improve the aircraft further by keeping the wings and tails of that aircraft, but have it powered by two jet engines with side intakes, living a very large nose area for a radar dish ( but that is another plane ). The Su-9 and Su-11 have the same tailed delta configuration as the Mig-21 family, but is somewhat larger and intended as an interceptor only. Here are a few views and reference of the Su-11 aircraft The model is produced by the Polish company Angraf. More on the build soon. Isaac

The kit
Angraf really did a good job printing this model. In addition, there are many graphical instruction views that are helpful. This is a model for experienced builders since it relies on a system of internal framing that require incorporations into the skins at certain stages of assembly. However, once you are familiar with this technique, it is straight forward construction.
here are some of the assembly views: Of interest here, is that you get two complete printed models in this one booklet. One model is on extremely shiny silver paper followed by a matt finish metallic print. for me, I really hate the shiny metallic finish since it looks wrong and toy like instead of realistic. So I am glad I have a choice here. Here are sample pages of the matt finish kit which I will build. apparently, this is the new norm with some Polish publisher. I have the same finished options with the GPM Mig-21, Yak-25M and some others. However, those are optional models that I will not build, so they are just sitting in a drawer for now. I also purchased the laser cut frames ( which is a time saver ) lastly, I purchased a canopy and a set of resin wheels ( which I may not use since the laser frames have pre cut disks to stack and form the wheels ). Frames
This model uses multiple frames for the fuselage, wings and tail. I decided to build all those upfront for later use. My version uses the laser cut frames I purchased.

Excited to see the finished result as you seem very good at creating models
and what will you do with the metallic ones? |

I am storing the metallic shiny prints for now and may render them after I scan them. Isaac

Nose section and air inlet
Here are the parts for the green radar cover and inlet cone
assembled nose section sub assemblies of the inlet, nose and inlet cone/ Radom inlet installed at this point, the inlet cone is not glued on in case I need to add nose weight after the plane is on its gear ( that will be toward the end. Isaac
