I'd love to see a clean design of the B-1 or the F-111 but only if it was of the same quality as Ken West's XB-70. That guy's got mad skillz. |

I have Fly Model's 'Vark, too. I wonder if that one is any easier to build....:p --David

The FLy Model Vark is not an easy build.

Hello Sakrison,
iŽam delighted that someone else is taking the journey through this kit. As billy already posted the link to my constructionreport all i can offer is my help whenever you get stuck. As you may have noted - i did build a scan of this kit - already aware of its flaws. Therefore i was able to correct some parts in Photoshop ( e.g. engine intake and the roof of the DSO and WSO). Unfortunately i deleted this parts some weeks ago.. So if you do have questions - donŽt hesitate to ask ! best wishes to your build ! Wolfgang |

Lots of fit problems, lots of mismatched panel lines. But I keep plowing onward. It will make an impressive "stand-off" model hanging on my office wall.
I started skinning the fuselage about a week ago--an abject lesson in the old rule: "Dry fit. Dry fit. And dry fit again." I began with the center section and I'm working outward toward each end. The aft section seems to be going alright except that the drawings leave me guessing about some of the parts and the panel lines don't line up. The forward section, between wing root and cockpit, is another matter. The framework is nearly a quarter of an inch too long. This part of the fuselage tapers sharply toward the nose so it's going to take some real creativity to get everything to fit. I'd really like to take a break and build something simpler and more reliable, like one of Marek's 1/50 scale aircraft. But I'm afraid if I set this aside, I won't come back to it. And I think, in the end, it will be worth finishing. I hope so. There is a lot left to do and the prospect of more fit problems is frustrating. Ah, well. As my father would have said, "It builds character." "Results? Why, man, I have gotten lots of results. I know several thousand things that won't work!" --Thomas Edison Slogging on, --David

It's sitting next to my workbench. I pick it up every once in awhile but I haven't yet had the heart to go at it again. I still hope to finish it someday, if only to hang it way high on the wall. In the meantime, other less vexing projects keep me busy.
