Another Warbird to Enjoy
If you remember my He 115, the original plane was found under the waters of a fiord, recovered and is being exposed in a museum pending reconstruction.
This new unnamed plane, was recovered from underwater too, and is being exposed in a museum, but it was rebuild to pristine, not airworthy, state. My model is being done at 1/72 scale, but like the Stranraer, He 115 and BD-3, it will be done at 1/33 scale too. And yes, I haven't said the name of the plane.

Hmm. That tailplane shape reminds me of a certain Northrop floatplane......

And... the wings are almost done.
Like the Stranraer, this one is going to be painted by hand, and will be very reinforced to last 30 years (or until a friendly nephew comes by, whatever happens first). The outer wings must be assembled before gluing them to the center section. This afternoon I'll start the hull, and then, I'll say the name and show pictures of the real one . By the way, Rata, your nickname comes from the I-16?

That's amazing! I've done quite a few repaints of the S&P I-16, and your uncle's Rata is actually one of them. With your permission I'd be happy to put his name in the description when I submit the model (after test building) to Ecards if you like.

This plane is another more hidro. I swear I'm not hunting them, it's just that they keep appearing in my radar. I loved this plane since I read a magazine about the recovery and restoration of the wreckage of one of them on 1980. I did a balsa version yeeears ago, and now, this paper one. The model is going to be done in two camouflages: norwegian (1941) and british/restored(1942-1980). Both will be at 1/72 and 1/33 scale. For more details of the recovery: Aircraftwrecks

I recognized it from an MPM(?) plastic kit I had. You're right, it's not well known but I find it an interesting type.
Found this Bomberguy video the other day: Forgotten Aircraft - Northrop N-3PB Seaplane - YouTube
