I agree. The old Maly prints were really printed on some "industrial" paper that became worse over time. I no longer build their models because they were not always accurate enough ( like their Suchoi Su-22 ) or good fitting, however, I did repaint a few of them and printed to get better results.
example: here is the original brown Yak-23 and the repainted one ( done 20 years ago or so ). Isaac

I agree with the statements that today it's better to reprint old MM kits, and also, if possible, repaint them as well.
However, I don't think all old MM kits have bad quality paper/cardboard. Those from 1990s+ are quite ok. Below, I'd like to post links to two of my models which are old Maly Modelarz kits, one from the 1970s and the other one, from 1980s. Both are reprints, and repaints(digital repainting was done by my grandson, Kacper, "PacificWind") 1/33 Yak-9 Régiment de Chasse Normandie 1/33 P-39Q Airacobra - Makin, Gilbert Islands 1944

Although BF110 is not my cup of tea, this is great looking 'classic MM' model!
