Mirage IIIE 1/200

On July 22, the first bits of my Mirage IIIE looked like this.

Mirage IIIE 1/200-mirageiiie-demo1-20100722-01.jpg

On october 4, a prototype fuselage in 1/200 joined them.

Mirage IIIE 1/200-mirageiiie-demo2-20101004.jpg

That 1/200 prototype has now been completed.

It's not a clone of Chaiwatkom's Kfir but rather the lovechild of Paragon's F-104 and Chaiwatkom's Mirage F1. :p

It's not perfect yet. I'll have to redesign the rear part of the fuselage and reduce the width of the air intakes rear so that the 4 parts connect better.

build errors :
- the joining of the nose cone and the front fuselage is awful
- I glued the wings in the wrong position. They shoud be moved 2 mm aft.
- I didn't add enough weight in the front section of the fuselage so the Mirage did'nt sit right on its undercarriage. That's why I stuffed the front of Chaiwatkom's fuel tank with paper and added it under the fuselage.

My Mirage IIIE prototype with one of Chaiwat's Kfirs.

Thanks to Jan Kytop (whose collection of Starfighters lead me to Paragon's model), Paragon and Chaiwat Kosatanakom !

Thanks.

The fuselage needs a lot of changes but here's a pic of the 2 Mirage prototypes. The new one (grey radome) has the wings in the correct position.

And a pic of all the deltas together : 2 Mirage IIIE and 3 Kfirs.

Now, back to Inkscape.

Thanks und Danke.

I thought the result would be worse but the center of the fuselage is quite wide. No hourglass figure yet for the french lady. :p

A 3rd prototype, with revised air intakes, joined the first two at the beginning of november (forgot to take pics).

I haven't modified the rear section of the fuselage yet, but I've started working on a color version (Pakistan Air Force, sqn 5). I basically want to build one of my Mirage and one of Chaiwat's with the same color scheme.

Instead of correcting the rear section of the fuselage, I made some external stores and pylons for the Mirage/Kfir family.

New centerline pylon and fuel tank (too long?) + outer wing pylons under my 2nd Mirage IIIE prototype.

New centerline pylon + (pseudo) ACMI pod and AIM-9J (or P) under the outer wing pylons of an F-21A (Chaiwatkom's Kfir).

I'm also making Shafrir 2 and Python 3 missiles.

I finally redesigned the rear fuselage.

Mirage IIIE 1/200-cafe-mirageiiie-dev2.jpg

Prototype #4 uses the new rear section and a different rudder.

(je me suis complètement planté en tentant de reproduire le schéma de camouflage standard de Dassault).
