Saro London: 3 Models, 3 Sizes

Many of you have seen my Supermarine Stranraer, published in ecardmodels.
When I was researching it, I found a picture of the plane identified BN-L from the 240th Sqn, that was a bit weird.
Looking better, I found that the plane was not a Stranraer, but a Saro London.
I found it so funny, that the picture went to my "to do" list.

And now the time has come to start to assemble the beta-test of this plane.
This beta test will be made in scale 1/72 and hand painted, but inmediately after finishing, there will be two more models made by friends of mine, one in scale 1/33 and the other in scale 1/100 ("Glue by Numbers" series)

An interesting detail is that the plane was reinforced with metalic stripes over all the fuselage. Mine will have this stripes, and the model is going to include the posibility of include them, too.

Another detail: the first model is going to be the prototype, with octogonal covers and two bladed propellers. The second, in similar silver finish, is going to have the exausts under the wing and four blades. And the third, the camouflaged BN-L, will have exausts over the wing and three bladed propellers.

So, as allways: Enjoy!

Now all the parts of the fuselage are cut and I'm placing the tabs and joining the subsections.

About the prominent fuel tank between the wings, it was an usual option, but not permanent. There are a lot of pictures without it, or even weirder, with a torpedor or an extra engine. This flat section, that the Stranraer had too, was used as an external cargo section. Why carry a torpedo when the plane wasn't designed to launch it, I don't know.

Excellent! Another historic flying boat not previously done in paper (to the best of my knowledge and belief).

Thanks, Don, Wyvern, yankeekilo, Rata and gomidefilho!

Yes, so far the only plane that I have done and it's not a never-made-model was the Dc-9. I'm allways surprised how many incredible planes have never been done before, or if done, not in detail!

Perhaps the torpedo was also cargo with the plane being used as some sort of fleet delivery type.

Maybe, Rata, maybe. Anyway the fuel tank is going to be detachable, so you'll can place anything you want there.

The top side of the hull is finished, And I'm going to place the reinforcement strips, somethig that it could be done in the 1/72 and 1/33 scales. I doub it could be done in 1/100 scale unless you are a supermodeler (yes, I'm seen you, gomidefilho)

See that I used internal tabs, and I'm going to place internal reinforcementes near the joins between the top and bottom halfs. They are not necessary, of course.
