Good news!

Today ecardmodels has released the X1, the DQ-H and the Combo "Dorniers Do-24 in the Pacific"!

The Dutch military Royal Netherlands Naval Air Service Marine Luchtvaartdienst (MLD) bought six Do-24K on November 1937, named from X-1 to X-6. Later X-7 to X-37 where delivered.

On 1942 the six surviving Do-24K of the lot were delivered to the 41 Sqn of the Royal Australian Air Forced. One of them carried the squadron code DQ-H and was used as troop transports.

And the third plane of the Combo is the ex Spanish Do-24T that has been rebuild and painted as the X-24, and can be found in the Militaire Luchtvaart Museum, Soesterberg, the Netherlands. This was was previously available as a stand-alone kit.

Today I started the spanish "Virgen Maria", with a mix of camouflage and high visibility paint. It should be available next week. All this planes and combo are 1:72, next week they will be realeased in 1:33.

Meanwhile, if you like the "less space-hoarder scale", enjoy!

You have certainly captured most of the variations of this good-looking and historical aircraft that served with so many air forces.

Thanks, Don!
Well, the "Virgen Maria" is almost finished, should be uploaded to ecardmodels this afternoon, released this weekend.
"Virgen del Pilar" should be uploaded tomorrow, and D-AEAV this Friday. All of them at 1:72 scale. The 1:33 versions will be started next week, to be released the last days of April.
Remember that there are eight versions and two combos already published!

Today ecardmodels published the 1:72 models of "Virgen Maria" and D-AEAV. Both carried a very showy color scheme and were totally disarmed.
D-AEAV was a Do-24N, an intermediate version of which were only made 13.
Next uploads are going to be this models in 1:33 scale and probably a combo of german planes.

I picked up the Pacific Combo.

Time to re-read Tom Womack's The Dutch Naval Air Force Against Japan: The Defense of the Netherlands East Indies, 1941-1942 (McFarland, 2006).

Wow, Don! Thanks! I'm sure you'll enjoy them!

I'm planning to do the only russian Do-24 that I know. I have just one picture of this one. Surrendered at Trelleberg in Sweden on 9th May 1945, Dornier Do 24T-2 Werk Nr. 115 5W+BU of SeenotStaffel 50 was handed over to the Soviet Union on August 14th 1945. This Do-24 was used for many years as transport while in service with Polarnaya Aviatsiya (Polar Aviation).
Somebody has more pictures?

And another request: I have just this only drawing of the Do-24ATT, but lacks details. I have pictures, but I'll need a more detailed drawing.

Thanks!

The ATT needs to happen! Luckily there is one in flying condition. Completely different wing and engines will have to be designed of course.

I understand that the only ATT is currently placed in the Dornier Museum, Friedrichshafen Airfield, Baden-Wurttemberg. It has never fly again since its close encounter with a sumerged log on 2015. There are some videos in youtube were the armchair pilots said that it was a stun, even after the Dornier family shown the damage to the hull of the plane.
Dornier DO24 FAILED STUNT - YouTube
They were doing a touch and go when Christian Doerk, flight engineer felt the "thump" and then they had spun around. He said he did not even have the time to say "sh!t" and it was over. Some pleasure boats on the lake came and towed the boat into a marina and they were able to get the old girl on a boat lift and lift her out of the water and immediately spotted the hole in her hull that had water gushing out. A local machine shop was able to fabricate a replacement panel out of Aluminum and after a good inspection revealed no other damage to the hull, wings or engines they riveted in the new panel and flew her home.

I'll really like to make the ATT, but so far all the contacts I have tried with the owners have failed without answer.

More news, more versions.

The 1:33 versions of the spanish Virgen Maria and the dutch X-1 are available from ecardmodels!

When I was finishing the 1:33 version of the Do-24K X-1 I found that the wing roudels were inverted! How it happened, no idea!

Anyway, I corrected it and the Pacific combo. You can download the corrected versions without problem. All my models include that date of elaboration in the lower border of each sheet. Sorry!

Soon a Combo of three german planes will be available and the 1:33 versions of DQ-H and D-AEAV will be ready too!

So, enjoy!

Today ecardmodels has released the 1:72 DO-24 German Combo. It includes three different german planes, that are available invidually, but with a discount.

CD+BH was a DO-24T and was based in Osted and Schellingwoude in 1942. It served with Seenotstaffel 3.

The D-AEAV was used by the Reichsdienst on aeromedical duties with a civilian registration. It was one of the at least 13 Do24N-1’s that were delivered to the Luftwaffe when Germany invaded The Netherlands on May 10th 1940 and found 13 Do24K-2’s in various stages of building.

DJ+ZM was based in Athens-Phaleron in 1943 and served with Seenotstaffel 7

This kit includes censored and uncensored tails.

BTW, I'm removing the detailed cathalog of all the 100+ models that I have released in ecardmodels and replacing it with a summary. Hope you like it!
