Cool SAAB J21-prop version NOBI design

As a continuation of my paper collection of SAAB jets in 1/33 scale,

I needed a J21R which was a conversion of the propeller baseline fighter. Since no paper model is available of that jet, the closest one is the NOBI designed simple version in 1/48 scale.

I will build the prop version by enlarging it from 1/48 to 1/33 scale ( or 1.45 x ) to check it out. I built many of NOBI's model and found them to be simple, minimum detail and straight forward.

But first a bit about the plane:

The design emanated from WW2 in which all the guns were in the nose of the fuselage thus requiring a pusher prop configuration ( being single engined unlike the other twin boom configuration fighters like the P-38 Lightning ). This created a rather large plane that stood high on its landing gear. This aircraft became operational after the war and was unique to the Swedish air force.

A few pics and drawings of the plane here:

Good luck Isaac. Looking forward to the 1/33 version.

Exclamation The kit

The design is basic with line drawings for the panels. The illustrations are good and clear. Again, this is a very simple design with no details nor a cockpit.

here it is:

Exclamation Fuselage

The fuselage is short as this is a tin boom design.

You're off to a great start Isaac. Simple it is, thankfully no petals.

This will be a very fast build. Nothing to it.

If you're keen for a J-21R, I could see about dusting my model off and finishing it this weekend. Work has finally cut back on the mandatory overtime, so I actually have Saturdays again.

Murph

Absolutely YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I need a J21R jet to complete my SAAB paper collection.

Please scale it to 1/33 as anything smaller do not scale up well in fit. If there is no interior cockpit, no worries, I can use another aircraft interior even if it is not 100 percent accurate.

Here are some sketches I got from the web on the jet version.

21R Specifications
Wingspan 11,37 m / 37 ft 4 in
Length 10,45 m / 34 ft 3 in
Height 2,90 m / 9 ft 8 in
Wing Area 22.3 m² / 260,0 ft²

Thanks

Isaac

It's a conversion of my J-21 prop version, so it'll be in 1/22 (I like big models and I cannot lie).
