Grumman F6F-3 by ccoyle - FINISHED - GPM - 1:33

Hello, friends!

Today I'm sharing just a few photos of my just-completed Grumman F6F-3 from GPM. Before I built this, I didn't appreciate how large the Hellcat is -- the finished model doesn't fit on any of my shelves! Fortunately, my display space is not this model's final destination, as I have built it as a going-away gift for a friend. Building a GPM product was a new experience for me, and not a particularly pleasant one. GPM uses a bewildering parts numbering system, and many parts were duplicated for no obvious reason, and this was true even with the laser-cut frets. But despite this, it is finished, and I am satisfied with the result. Enjoy the pictures!

That is a very fine airframe you have built there. Certain the intended recipient will love it.

Thank you, gentlemen!

I forgot to add that this is GPM's issue #605 (7'2021) and depicts an aircraft of VF-27 aboard USS Princeton (CVL-23) in October of 1944. The same kit is available in a different livery showing an aircraft of VF-9 aboard USS Essex (CV-9) in 1943. I also purchased the laser-cut frames set, molded canopy, and resin wheels.

Gorgeous work.
It would be a pleasure to see any "build" photos if you have them.

Impressively clean build.

A little exhaust stains, dirt and oil and it's an operational fighter.

Well done

Isaac
