Texmod Short Stirling beta build

Hi all,

To take a short break from Pogoria I am doing the test build of Texmod's latest design, the Short S-29 Stirling bomber. For anyone who builds this when it is released, there will be pictures to compliment the instructions in the kit.

The Stirling has been designed by Bruno before but this model features photorealistic textures and cockpit details plus instructions and part numbering. Of course, it can be built satisfactoraly without interior using a soild canopy too. Mine is in 1/72 scale and the kits will also be released in 1/48.

The exact aircraft in this kit is Stirling Mk.III LJ514 EX-B of 199 Squadron, which had the nose art 'B-Bear' and a small pint painted for every mission completed. This airframe flew 75 missions which is the highest recorded for the type, most of which were Radio Counter Measures so it was more out of harm's way than some.

To start off, we make the main section of fuselage, and cut out all the windows and glaze using thin plastic attached with double-sided tape. The cockpit section has interior walls which must be carefully lined up with the window openings. The wing spar is reinforced with 1.5mm board and this fits perfectly through the openings. I advise placing the two halves through first before joining in the middle. Currently the two fuselage formers are in place but not glued and the paper is being 'taught' the profile around them before sticking anything.
