To have servo controlled flight controls, I would've had to have planned that into the design waaay before this point. It would be cool thats for sure. I'll likely try something like that in the future. I like that idea.

On this update, I feel like I didn't get a whole lot done. regardless, here's what I got so far.

The canopy, I vacuum formed to shape, it took two tries to get it right. It slides back and forth easily enough. I like how it works and looks. The rails will require a bit of trimming to get the fuselage skin to lay right though.

The RH wing structure is starting to come together too.

The Main landing gear is coming together too. You can see in the photo how I built suspension into the gear. I've got to make the coupling that holds the wheel spindle to the main gear structure. There is a small hole on the brake caliper dust guard that will have a brake line leading to it. I've also got to make a ring to clean up the rim on the back side of the wheel.

We are all looking at your build as if we were watching the production of a Spitfire at the Supermarine factory in Southhampton UK in the 1940s. Awesome work, this is on a whole other level

It's been a bit since my last post, I feel like I haven't made sufficient progress worthy of a post until recently.

As you may recall if you've been following the build, I've been encouraged by my dog to rebuild the engine, again.. So, with that inspiration and encouragement by Siwi to make it motorized I've started rebuilding it. I started with rebuilding all the components on the firewall so that I know how much space I have available for the engine. I'm considerably happier with the rebuild compared to the previous build. I think the components look much more realistic and correctly scaled. I also did a bit of weathering on the firewall and components attached to it. The entire engine will have the same weathered look giving it the appearance of some wear and use.

The engine itself is looking sooo much more realistic. Compared to version 1, version 2 is has a whole lot more detail thus far. While building V-1 there were some things I was happy with but would have done differently another time around. You can see the difference in what I'm talking about with the side by sides. My favorite difference so far has got to be the oil pan. It looks much better, the shaping is cleaner, the bolts are more intentional and regularly placed. This time around I've also implemented receipt paper for the super small rolled parts. These work really well for places wire needs to be attached to parts as well as bolts.

Additional work I've done on the plane since the last update include LH wing paint/weathering. lastly, I've figured a way to make the wings' aileron control detachable. I've rebuilt the oil cooler as well. I realized that there should be some kind of something inside the open wing to show the cooler as it's a major component in the wing. I rebuilt it with lots of detail and I'm happy with how it looks.

I'm stuck on the landing gear, I cant figure out how to get the complex pivot angle without just gluing it into place and hope it works. That usually doesn't work very well so I'm putting it on the back burner.

Anyways, that's what I've got for ya in this update. I hope ya'll enjoy the updated progress

Wow, that's very impressive T haf!! Don't worry about the landing gear, by looking at what you have achieved up so far, you'll find a solution at the time .

Perhaps a solution to the LG is to replicate the underwing area, test fit the gear design and adjust as needed before committing it to the build. Sure, extra work but worth it.
Found this image which may be of use: https://i536.photobucket.com/albums/...v.jpg~original Also this forum thread which refers to a Mk.XIV but has an image specifically with the angles of all the mechanism geometry. ALERT! Need Spit Mk.XIV Info for Landing Gear Bay and Struts - Historical Data - IL-2 Sturmovik Forum

This is the type of build quality that is dangerous for our jaws (dropping on the floor) and more particularly for our self-esteem.
in other words: magical
