It's been a few minutes since my last post on here. A 3 week vacation and a wing that is taking forever to make may do that.
Here on this update I've been building one side of the wing. This one will remain skinless in the center. My goal for it is to show the interior and moving components in the wing. It will go along with the theme of having the engine exposed. I've been pretty happy with how it's been coming together. The aileron works with nearly no friction. its fantastic to operate. I just have to figure out some kind of detaching method for the cables so that the wing will be able to separate. That's been the biggest hurdle to overcome so far. Anyways, here's some photos. |

For the cables, I would suggest maybe using a jewellery finder that a loop of cable can be hooked around. Alternatively there are plaited metal loops which have a threaded shim which could be soldered to the existing cable.
Lovely work. Which paint are you using for the green RAF primer? |

Wonderful work T haf! I have just bough a reel of EZ line to experiment with, maybe that could be useful for cabling in your model but I already saw something to that end in one of the pictures in your last post. Large wings have a tendency to sag because of their weight, is that a concern here?

Another update for you guys, I've been busy working on the airplane and organizing a move so things have been slow. IPMC took place over the weekend which allowed me a good day to work on some parts on the spit.
The new things added on this update are going to be some internal components to the wings as well as a paint job that I regret. It will be changed. I've built the propeller, im super happy with how it works. It spins on glass beads, it rotates smoothly. I'm happy with it. The blade shape is exactly what I wanted. I've started working on the cockpit. as of right now I'm working on the footwell of the spit. I'm about halfway done with what I've got planned in the area. It's very time consuming to say the least. While at IPMC I built the rudder pedals and control arms. With a paint job it looks pretty damn good in my opinion. I've been very happy with how its coming along. |

I am in full awe.... You are going to have a great time with all the details in the very crammed cockpit, especially with the pilot's seat!

I started on the seat section last night! I've got to get done the rest of the rib(?) that the seat is mounted on. I've got to build the structure for the seat and the seat itself. I've got some awesome reference photos that will allow me to get super detailed on how the seat both looks and operates.
Perhaps that will be my next update so that I don't have such long gaps between posts. |

Amazing level of detail it must involve a great bit of research....Seems a shame to skin any of it!
