I didn't expect to be making such rapid progress but nonetheless, today has seen quite a bit of plating/infill complete. A useful exercise in that I can get some confirmation that the overlays, from which the infills are derived, are actually the right shape.

Thank you for the interested replies and comments; yes, it is a rather large model and no, I really don't know where it is to go when complete

As regards the aircraft's service life, this particular example was one of three running a route to the Antilles from Biscarosse in southern France, although one did find its way to Montevideo after a rather awful accident when a propeller blade sheared off, killed two passengers and did not at all help the early reputation of the machine. F-BDRA ended its life peacefully, after having one of its wings removed for testing to try and establish the cause of later accidents. Quite a lot us available on the Internet, although very little accurate drawn information.

Now for more infill plating, then hopefully the fuselage overlays after I've coloured them.

Best wishes to all

Chris

Clearly I should not be trying to write posts on a mobile phone as the photos I had attached didn't come out; here goes again

Very pleased that this is finding an interested following, thanks to all!

Rollation I have some vague idea of, Don, but I've never used it; all the parts are worked out geometrically on the computer to the best of my ability and each one seems to present varying difficulties but for the fuselage, it's various combinations of partial cones with differing centres at either end of each section. Worked OK for my Fokker F36 and the Late at least has flat sides! Hence the extended design period.

As the prototype appears to be popular as a ready made model on the Internet, I suppose there might be a market if I were to put in the extra work to turn it into a kit but for now, it's very early days and I have yet to produce the finished result.

Best wishes to all

Chris

Major progress today - underside of fuselage (planing bottom in flying boat terminology) now complete and ready for touching up white card edges at joints.

Very pleased that hours of work to determine the shapes of each segment have paid off as they have butted together really quite well.

Next step to colour in the fuselage sides/roof segments on the computer ready for printing off and installation.

Best wishes to all

Chris

I wish I was born 100 years earlier, I would have seen this plane with my own eyes. So impressive!
