Continuing with 1/48 scale
After the SnP Mirage 200 I presented here (Rebuilding the Mirage 2000 C in 1/48 scale (rescale for 1/100 SnP)), my next try is the Fiddler's Green Me 163 Komet, rescaled to 1/48.
I think that my build doesn't look too bad, but it's still a long way from the quality of the builds we see on this forum. So my goal is still to learn what I can do better in the next builds. What's different from the Mirage 2000 C. It's a Fiddler's Green model and it's easier to build at least because you have very good instructions. To assemble the fuselage, I cut the tabs and glued a strip of paper inside and between the 2 parts to assemble. What I managed to achieve with this technique was so-so because there was not a great fit between the fuselage pieces. Maybe there were sized to fit with the tabs left in place... |

Next, I'm going to return to SnP model: a F-5F Tiger II.
Just started with separating the pieces. |

adding cockpit and top section
Result is not great. One of my mistakes was that the cockpit bottom is not completely horizontal and that I should have adjusted the height of the fuselage underneath. Doesn't look very easy to do... Other advice to better form the cockpit is welcome. Regarding the fuselage sections, this time I kept the tabs, but fitting is difficult, especially with my paper thickness. In comparison, in 1/100 scale and 90 g/sqm paper, the assemblies between the section are almost invisible... I'll try again cutting out the tabs and glueing them inside. |

I don't know what kind of paper you are using but you might want to try a bit thicker one. Next size up from whatever you are using now. Might be helpful with keeping shapes and straight edges.

I’m using 120-140 g/sqm. I felt it was already quite thick and I thought this was one of the issues.
