Bill Holovich's Fokker D7
Forum member Bill Holovich has created what so far seems to be an awesome model of the German Fokker D VII WW1 fighter plane. The kit is available on this site as a free download. The machine guns appear that they may be a bit fiddly and there are no instructions on how to assemble them so if my attempt to do so fails I'll just order SPANDAU 08-15 guns from GasPatch Models
For the padding around the cockpit (I can't think of the proper word) the piece was glued to 2 other pieces of cardstock then cut out. Brown cheap craft paint was used to eliminate any white areas after the piece was cut out. I plan on cutting out the wheels for the kit and gluing them to 1/32 balsa sheet. I'll pick up a cheap drafting compass so that I can draw perfect circles in the balsa. The parts which needed reinforcing were done using cardboard from a cereal box. Pieces were glued together using Elmer's Glue All and glue stick. I just got back from the WW1 Jamboree in Rhinebeck, NY and had an awesome time. I am a new RC pilot and AMA member and someone suggested that a D7 would be an easy plane to build and fly so suddenly I am nerding out on D7 planes. Thanks to Bill for sharing his genius and creativity. Last edited by PetworthPilot; 09-13-2022 at 01:58 PM. Reason: changed isn't to are no |

Rebuilt the fuselage
I rebuilt the fuselage as I didn't like the way the first one came out. The second one is not perfect but it's better than the previous effort. This is my second cardstock plane so there's plenty of room to learn and improve.

Has anyone ever created a file of the Fokker D7's rudder with the black cross on it? Bill's model came without.
I am taking a break on the D7 at the moment to work on a rubber powered balsa plane built from plans made available at Outerzone.co.uk. Last edited by PetworthPilot; 09-26-2022 at 11:19 PM. Reason: taking a break |

PWP,
That's looking great! You are lucky you get to go to the WWI Jamboree. I've never been able to see that in action. I'm not too computer literate so I'm not sure about the rudder cross. I'd take the easy way out, mask it and spray the cross on... Looking forward to more of your D-VII! Dan |
