Phew, good spot. Until the wheels went on I was going to suggest an option to make the plane sit upight would be to make a simple water base from thick card with two slots to fit the floats into, and then use loo roll soaked in glue to sculpt some water.

My thinking during the build was to fashion some sort of base resembling water at some point. But even at that, I discovered the forward castor wheels (spelled “castor” wrong in my previous post…) don’t retract fully into the nose of the float so they still should be visible. In fact, the retracted castor wheels are used as bumpers when the aircraft is docking at a pier.

The outfit that manufactures the floats, Wipaire, is about a 15-minute drive from where I used to live in St. Paul, MN.
