Repaint, N17 Sgt. Maurice Boyau, Marek, 1/33

Anyhoo, the only reason I repainted this is because I had different version (from Wings Over Flanders Field flight sim) that I liked better, also I wanted to weather it bunch. The kit went together quite nicely, which is something you come to expect from a Marek model, the only problem I had was the engine was a tad large. So, I shrunk the engine and made it turn with the propeller. For rigging wires I used split bamboo skewers (which was suggested by someone on this forum) which worked quite well, though I am afraid I made them a little thick and wasn't pleased with the results of painting them black. Next time I use this method they will be thinner and natural color. The top wing has two wire spars which the formers tend to slide back and forth on. To alleviate this problem I made cereal box spacers that had the added advantage of strengthening the wing. Mike |

Nice work. A great looking bird. The ribs look great as does the weathering. The black bamboo skewers still look nice. I love the separate control surfaces and the wooden rendering on the prop turned out fantastic too.

Nice repaint. Excellent model. The N17 has always been one of my favorite airplanes (ever since I built the Hawk version in 1952).
