There is a little goof up on my part in which the frame behind the cockpit left side has pushed into the skin. Crap.

The fuselage looks really nice. I can't see the problem on the skin. Nice work.

Wing roots
Since this build will have a landing gear, there is a need to modify the fuselage to wing spars. The reason for that is that the original model has those spars penetrate the location of the main wing landing gear bays.
Specifically, need to relocate them ( actually completely modify the shape ) front and back of the landing gear bay cut out. Here are the spars. Notice, I re enforced them with wood sticks for support. The inner wing cut out is shown prior to assembly Inner wing is in place on one side. but...... The door opening next to the fuselage the way it is designed in the original, will penetrate the fuselage. That is not the case for the real aircraft, as the bay is 100% inside the wing and no portion penetrates the fuselage. however, that mistake was discovered only after the first wing was mounted and I decided to just cut the other side shorter as to fit within the wing as shown in my marked photo. Reference pic of the main landing gear bay: Notice the inner wall is within the wing root . More details soon. Isaac

Always an interesting process working out how to cut into sections that were designed as a solid skin. I guess real aircraft designers had to work out this sort of thing as well once retractable landing gear, internal guns and multiplefuel tanks became standard.

Many years ago ( in 1985 ) at work ( jet engines ), I proposed the use of computer models for that purpose only to be poo pooed by an old timer engineer that managed to disparage its use and convinced the management not to do it. Now there is no complex design unless done on the computer. Anyhow, back to our build. Isaac

Wing landing gear bay
Since I no longer do any computer design or rendering on my computer, I rely on existing designs to fill the gap. This Meteor does not have a landing gear as discussed. It was designed to be built in a flying position.
I decided to use the main gear bays from another Meteor Mk 1 kit ( 1/33 scale ). It is very simple and plain, but will do the job if you don't want to fuss too much. I enlarged it for best fit ( not 100% since the shape is not the same ). Here is the part built glue in place I added a strip of Balsa wood to support the gear struts. Isaac

The wing roots look great. Very nice work installing them, Isaac. Looking forward to your addition of the landing gear.

Outer wings
The meteor engines are located mid wing and thus separate the wings into inner and outer sections. Before we get to the engine nacelles, here are the outer wings
There is a cardboard insert to stiffen the wing when the spar is inserted here it is all Assembly will be done when the engine nacelles are install. Isaac
