Mimicrornithopter

hi there,

just finished a strange plane. the idea came from a very small silhouette of this thing one can find on some lp back-covers of a band i adore.

thanks to my wife - she helped me build it!

A very nice piece/build you have there. Might I ask which band? I seem to remember Santana having something like that on an album cover but it was a very long time ago now.

it's not santana!

i will solve the mystery shortly but until then - can anyone guess?

it's a british band, more than 50 years active!

i will see them in a few weeks performing live

A Roger Dean illustration came to mind while reading your post.

By chance, will you be releasing it on your site?

PS. Enjoy the show! J

The term "ornithopter" also comes from the novel "Dune" (published in 1965), by Frank Herbert.
As I understand it, the flying vehicles of Dune flew under the power of movable wings.

ornithopter

hi michael,

thanks for your post. i didn't know this "dune" story.

mimicrornithopter is a word creation by myself - a combination of mimicry and ornithopter.
