Just a great build Dan, but in a way, what a weird aircraft. It looks very sturdy with the fixed landing gear, a bit like a flying tank. The approach of bit by bit is indeed the best one. I'm right in the middle of my own landing gear quest but the sky is slowly clearing up.

Cheers,
Erik

Thanks Erik and Ray!

Got a bit more done on the wheel pant fairings and cobbled the tail skid together. Looks sufficiently complicated but highly robust. Must be all those triangles. The skid also makes the machine sit better on the ground. Nice!

Gondola next...Dan

Your rings on the cowling and wheel pants are very precise. I envy your skill.

That tailskid is a fascinating and complex apparatus, beautifully executed.

Thanks, Don. It does look suitably fiddly and very 1930s.

Here is the gondola and belly gun attached. I still need to some touch-up but it looks good overall and is all in the shadows of the underside anyway so I'm not too worried. Making the gun was a trial with lots of guessing and scratch building as the pictures to assemble it had issues. It was good practice for the eventual dorsal position which will be very plainly seen!

More tomorrow. Maybe the prop and spinner?

Thanks, Greg and Don! It is nice and angular so making it wasn't too tough. Turned out OK.

Today I got some more little details done including the prop, spinner and the wheel pant light lenses. I still need to cover them with a clear dome but that will happen soon.

You can also see that I started dry-fitting the canopy and it's amazing how well it actually fits. I think I'll use this as the start of a mold for smash or vacforming.

Getting closer and closer!
