There is always a need for good internal structure. Often builders just follow the instructions only to find wings and landing gears sag and bend ( me too ). I try to reinforce many of my builds.

Glad you found my method informative.

Good luck with the Po-2 and any other variant you may build

Question Wing fillets

There are multiple sets of fillets attached to wings here.

The inner wing to fuselage upper fillets

Inner wings to engine nacelles upper and also lower

Outer wing to engine nacelle upper and also lower.

however.....

colors do not match any mating parts

fillets are too thin and will not cover the joints. I had to artificially make them wider, but the printed original showed.

I just hand colored some just to see what it needed.

The best way would have been to scan the model, repaint it, make the fillets wider. But, I am not that kind of artist and I already knew this build is a loser and can be admired from afar.

Desculpe,,, ( Spanish for excuse me )

Hi Isaac,

I think it looks just fine. I know what you mean about pieces not being quite big enough. I just had a similar issue on my Karas and a fillet on the leading edge of the wing intercepting the top of the wheel pants. I just copied the part and enlarged it until it fit. Just an option next time that you no doubt thought of already. I feel you pain but I think you got away with it!

Keep plugging away,
Dan

Isaac,

You did a great recovery. You're making improvements to a difficult model.

The fillets look good.

Exclamation Status pics

At this point here is what the model looks like short of the tail and landing gear.

Exclamation Vertical fin

The vertical fin comes in two pieces. There is a small section with the British insignia and then the rest rounded fin.
Gloster Meteor mk 3- Fly models in 1/33 scale-img_8212.jpg

My only modification was to replace the cardstock vertical spar with a duplicate balsa wood version that is wider.

once assembled and spar is installed, it is ready

now glued to the aft fuselage. The fit is good, but there is a problem in matching the colors or avoiding the white unpainted area from showing
Gloster Meteor mk 3- Fly models in 1/33 scale-img_8216.jpgGloster Meteor mk 3- Fly models in 1/33 scale-img_8217.jpg

There is a small fillet up front, but it does not match and can only be glued at an angle ( crap ) and it is too thin and does not fully cover the root of the fin.

Anyhow that is all for now.

Good job Isaac. I wonder if the designer or publisher had ever made a test-build...

Good luck with the horizontal stabilizer.....

Another builder on the German paper site had the same fitting issues with the tail ( as well as other locations ).

I don't know if it was neglect, bad design or who knows what. But a test build would have uncovered all these issues. Some of the errors could be corrected by building a test model, and then marking the parts with the panel lines and camouflage patters and then transfer it back to the flat design.

Oh well....

You've done well with this build. I would have given up by now.

Always a comfort when other builders have the same problems
