Update for this one, I did make the canopy after 3 tries, I still didn't quite get it super good, but is ok for size. I cut the frame for the canopy out of typing paper since card too thick in this scale, and formed a mold for the canopy and then decided to open it a little to peek in.
The cowling was kind of fun to make. I cut the little parts out and made typing paper connecting strips, the parts fit well, then cut out the gun channels. Added them and the under scoop and cut out the exhaust ports, then could put it with the engine on the model

I’m sure you could cut it quite cleanly Mike with those tiny railings I see you cut! The plastic part is a challenge at times it is true

Yesterday's efforts were to figure out the main float pylon, I used kindof trial error to get the shape but then colored to match the plane, it is quite wide at the attachment to the plane although streamlined, and put a paper tube in the float so can slip in and out yet and changes the look of the plane significantly when it's on. I'm not working as clean as I would like close up pictures are not pretty sometimes

Well Glen, it may not be perfect in your eyes, but it's very impressive what you are trying to achieve. The float looks excellent!

Many thanks Erik and Dan!

I have been working on this one, but rebuilt the float to get a better one and turned more attention to changing the tail/rudder and putting in the struts to the float. I have also been working on the wheeled carriage used to support the plane and launch it, there are a surprising number of pictures of this. There is a problem that I think is solved with the weight distribution on this though, it is more tail heavy than a p-38 model (just sayin, Erik). Magnet for the front of the float to the trailer and weight to the tongue part I think will work.

The float came out nice. I have the simpler Pmodel kit that I'll have to build one day.
