Hi;

When you finally complete the project, it would be a good idea to put it in a case. Considering that is fragile to begin with, that would protect it from dust, cats, kids and and Godzilla.

Regards, rjccjr

I agree, RJ...it'll sure be a dust collector!

Success! Got the bottom wing on and two sets of interplanes. I needed to make the struts a tad longer so they are scratch built. I also successfully made some new holes for the struts on the lower surface of the top wing. It's straight and looks fine. It also seems to match up ok with my 3-views so I'm not complaining.

Light at the end of the tunnel and it's not a train!

Still need to finish the tip struts but at least I did make some headway this weekend. Should be done pretty soon!

Thanks, Greg!

I got a tad more done. Lots more rigging and the last struts at the wing tips. Aileron control cables, paint the struts at the tips, prop, a bit more rigging and some little details here and there. Shooting to get it done by Monday but we'll see!

Thanks for looking...Dan

Wow, impressive Dan! I see you're well documented on other historical places of war.... (Tobruk, Tarawa). A slight hint with respect to any future model from that era?

Cheers,
Erik

It's beautiful! I can imagine it in flight with Otto Prohaska shouting to the pilot, "Convertere ad sinistram et ascende!"

Thanks, Erik and Don. Don: I'll make one of my movies when I post the finished model and I'll put the plane on top of that book! Only you and I will understand it!

Erik: Those are board war games. That's another hobby of mine combining history and wargaming. I used to play these when I was younger and they are still fun. I'm partial to history (of course) and the Pacific and N. Africa are two of my favorites. Both games are fun and the Tobruk game is very detailed and you learn a lot about the machines and weapons used. They are really fun.

More soon!
Dan

Don

Ideally in a meticulously animated Miyazaki film. In fact I would be suprised if one of these hasn't already turned up in Porco Rosso or The Wind Rises.

WG (Siwi),

I'd love to see that. I've never seen the Porco movies...only in little clips. Don says they are super detailed and the attention to how an airplane flies is meticulous. I must track those down.

I am almost done! Here are some shots of some final details like the front bumper, windshield, engine crank, my scratch oil tank, prop (overcoated with some clear orange paint), tail skid and some rear hand holds. I'm just working on a little contraption that sits on the top of the center section. Not sure what it is...maybe for radiator overflow?? Once that's on, I'll do some beauty shots. Should be done later today.

Also...what is the little hand lever outside the cockpit under the wind shield? Is that the throttle? Seems like an odd place to put it. Or maybe it's bomb release. Not sure. Adds to the mystique, though!

More soon and in for a landing...Dan
