Thank you, Glen. More to show but it still looks like tiny progress.
I got all the parts (sans the struts for the wings) on the engine mount cage. They are piano wire, brass and some plastic sprue when not load-bearing. I then taped off the engine mounts, primed it and sprayed everything black. Looks homogeneous and now I'll start rigging it with EZ-line. Now THAT'LL be fun...More soon, Dan |

I have missed this thread up so far..... excellent build Dan, without any doubt you are the WW1 master. What a fragile construction and then all this rigging.... but, EZ line is perfect for this and surprisingly easy to apply. Because of its flexibility you can accidentally touch it without immediate damage. Looking forward to the rest of your build!

Thanks Erik, Ricardo and Don! I hope things keep going well on this one. Sure is elegant.
I go the engine mount all together, primed, painted and rigged with EZ-Line. I'll use some epoxy to attach it to the fuselage to allow a bit of wiggle time to get things nice, straight and true. Then I think I'll relax with the tails and the engine! Cool...Dan |

Good morning Dan.
Excellent work on the engine bed! A little hint: As next step it would be a good idea to build the engine, the watercooler and the pipes. Before making the supports for the upper wing at the engine bed, you should have buildt the lower and upper wings and their supports. Then you can make the supports from the engine bed to the upper wings by real measure. Cheers, Wiwo |

Thanks, Don. I'm glad it's interesting viewing!
WiWo! Thanks for the ideas. My plan is to get the engine done, the tails and then start the bottom wing. I figure if that gets in strong and true, I'll have better luck with the top wing and the wing supports on top of the engine. I did do a little mod of one of the top wing supports I'll share shortly. I hope it works!! ![]() Dan |

A bit more. Tails and I got them installed too as well as rigged. All I need are the elevator control cables. Ran out of steam and now my Mother-in-Law is coming so not sure how much more will get done in the next two weeks. I'd so hoped to get the rear end all completed. Maybe I can stuff some time in tomorrow before going to the airport? We'll see.
Looking pretty dandy, I must say. Dan |
