Ki-15 Karigane by Roman Vasiliev/ Der Kampfflieger
Here is Ki-15 I've been looking for a long while.
It's in original 1:40 scale so it's rather big. This recolor shows one of machines purchased by Asahi Shimbun newspaper owners. Author of this recolor messed up a bit and merged two Ki-15 that newspaper had J-BAAL and J-BAAI. One day I'll correct this recolor to J-BAAI, build it again and present it here because it was a very famous plane in those days. 4 years ago Pericles build 1:100 army version of the same model and it can still be admired here Japan Navy and Army Aviation 1919-1940 in 1/100 scale Enjoy the pictures |

It's certainly a good-looking craft in those colours, especially the Hironmari wingtips. I had an interesting read of the history of this aircraft: it made a record-breaking flight from Tokyo to London and even had a 25-minute piano concerto composed in honour of it by Hisato Osawa which sounds a little like Bartok. The name 'Kamikaze' 'Divine Wind' is rather notable before it acquired a darker meaning in wartime.
As a further musing, I wonder how many models exist of military types that were used by civilian organisations. There was at least one Mosquito that flew in BOAC colours to smuggle Neils Bohr out of Sweden, a blue and white Fairey Fulmar used as a works hack, and the 'Psychedelic Monster' B-25 used as the camera plane for the filming of 1969 Battle of Britain.
